Plesse explain! The NY Daily News version of this puzzle has no title, but even after finding the title, I can't make any sense out of any of the theme answers.
Thanks for solving the Universal Crossword, John! This theme is especially tricky. The first part of each theme answer means "half" ("demi," "semi," "hemi," and "half"), and the clue for each theme answer is a word that uses half the letters in the second part. For example, in 17-Across, the word "vat" uses half the letters in "Lovato"; similarly, in 10-Down, "for" uses half the letters in "formal." Hope this helps!
